Fencing Installation
FAQs
In our fence installation FAQs, we answer important questions about materials, timing, customization, and permits for your fencing project.
What types of fencing materials do you offer?
We offer a variety of fencing materials! Our options include wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain-link fences. Each material has its unique characteristics and benefits, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your style and requirements.
Not sure which material is best for you? Check out our blog post, “How to Choose the Right Fence for Your Home.”
How long does it typically take to complete a fence installation?
The duration of a fence installation project can vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the area, the type of material used, and any customization requirements. However, most of our standard fence installations are completed within 1-2 days. We will provide you with a more accurate timeline during the project consultation.
Take a look at our Building Process page for more information on what to expect during your project with Resolut Fence and Deck.
Do you assist with the design of custom fences?
Absolutely, we understand that every property and homeowner has their own unique style!
During our initial consultation, we take the time to understand your needs and vision. We even go the extra mile by providing visual renderings of the proposed design with your quote, allowing you to see exactly how your custom fence will look before installation. This typically happens within the first 24 hours after your consultation.
Can I choose different fence heights and styles?
Yes, you have the flexibility to choose from various fence heights and styles based on your aesthetic preferences and functional requirements. Whether you need a privacy fence, a decorative fence, or one with a specific height for safety or compliance, we have options to accommodate your choices.
Visit our Fences and Railings page for a breakdown of all the styles we offer!
Will you help with the necessary permits for the fence installation?
Yes, we'll handle all the paperwork for you, including confusing municipal and regional fencing bylaws. There are no permits for fencing unless required for retaining walls which typically require site specific enginnering. Pool enclosures are to follow specific bylaws as well. We can also help in cases where a fence varaince is required where the homeowner/client is requiring a fence that is outside of the bylaws (e.g. requiring a fence taller than 8 feet). Our team ensures your project complies with local codes and regulations, making the process hassle-free while you focus on your outdoor oasis.
How often should I maintain my deck or fence?
The frequency of maintenance depends on the type of material, weather conditions, and the level of exposure to the elements. As a guideline, decks and fences should be inspected and maintained annually.

Permits and Regulation FAQs
Learn about permits and regulations in our FAQs. Get insights on building codes and restrictions for your project.
Do I need a permit for a fence or deck installation?
The need for a permit for a fence or deck installation can depend on various factors, including the height and location of your project.
A standalone fence will generally not require a permit in Kitchener-Waterloo, though fence bylaws are to be followed. A deck with a finished height above 24 inches from grade will require a permit and accompanying enginnered railing following the Ontario Building Code.
How do you ensure that my project complies with local building codes?
Ensuring compliance with local building codes is a top priority for us. We have a thorough understanding of the local regulations and will design and construct your fence or deck to meet or exceed these codes. Our experienced team conducts inspections and uses materials and construction techniques that adhere to the standards set by the local authorities.
